Experience Engineering Program (EEP) 2016
The 20 days long Experience Engineering Program (EEP) 2016, organized by Department of Sciences & Humanities was held from 10th June to 30th June 2016. This program was aimed at giving an insight on technological and scientific intuitions to the students. The students were involved in a set of activities which was a mix of both conceptual content and hands on training.
There were 327 students participating in this unique program that is one of its kinds in the country, offered by Faculty of Engineering, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
The highlights of the program are as follows;
Program started with JED-I (Joy of engineering design and Innovation) team led by former IISc professor, Dr. Swami Manohar. This course exposed the students to fundamental outlook of thinking and working like an engineer. Topics covered were Engineering measurements and system analysis, electromechanics, product design etc. With the help of these training sessions, students could create their first self-made automated crane. A lot of team work and presentations were involved.
An exclusive one day program was conducted by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), Pune to give an insight to the new breed of engineers, about the ever expanding automotive industry. The students enjoyed an activity based learning involving fun and challenges.
Two days of interesting sessions were held by Mr Kushal Singh, Elite Techno Group, on automotive engineering. The program was a combination of lecture, demonstration and practical sessions. The students were exposed engine dissembly and assembly.
During EEP, every student had the opportunity to visit Visvesvaraya Industrial and technological museum. At the Museum, students could learn the history and evolution of engineering technology.
As part of EEP, students visited different engineering departments in our own premises and were educated about all the available facilities and ongoing research in every department.
An exclusive training on Soft Skills to enhance the communication and social skills of students were conducted by Ms. Kavitha Shenoy.
A special session was conducted by our own counselors on emotional health, building self-esteem, goal setting and stress management. The students also had the privilege to interact in an informal session, with Dr. Ali Khwaja, founder Banjara Groups.
Guest lectures were conducted by Dr. Tessy and Prof Mini, from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and Mr. Jose Maliakal, IBM, Bangalore to highlight the importance of Mathematics in Engineering.
Apart from these events of Experiencing engineering, students also had an experience of what life is at Faculty of Engineering, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) by taking part in cultural and sports activities. Dr. Valsan chandy and Mr. Dillip ensured that each student had the opportunity to exhibit their artistic and sportsman skills. For sure we have discovered the singers, dancers and sport stars for this university.
