On 13th December 2017, M/s. WIENERBERGER conducted a workshop for the students of the department of Civil Engineering. M/s. Wienerberger is one of the world's largest producers of clay (terracotta) building bricks. Mr. Kundan Dighe, Manager, was the guest speaker. Mr. Kundan enlightened the students about natural, sustainable, green buildings and Porothermal bricks. Green Building promotes the efficiency of buildings with regards to the use of water, energy and materials while reducing the building’s impact on individual’s health and the environment through better design, construction, operation, maintenance and removal.

 The construction Industry today is plagued with the numerous challenges like shortage of natural resources like water & sand, shortage of skilled labor, shortage of time and limited financial resources. Wienerberger came up with a solution for these issues; Porotherm Dryfix system -  a revolutionary dry mortar or super glue that can entirely replace the conventional sand, cement, mortar and helps to build walls without the need of curing. Thus saves valuable time and precious natural resources like water and sand. Mr.Kundan also spoke about topics like advantages of clay, use of porotherm smart brick, building and trends in construction industry.

Wienerberger factory has established a specialized production methodology with a view of achieving quality and operational excellence through fully automated facility, engaging robots for material handling, and efficient use of locally available raw materials. This worthwhile session concluded with a question and answer section. There was intense participation from the students as well as faculties. The students gained vast insight about the current trends in the industry. This workshop proved to be very interactive and beneficial for the students and the faculty.
