On 6th February 2015, The Department of Civil Engineering and the student association, CACE conducted a one day workshop on civil engineering practices. The Workshop was conducted in three sessions. The Speaker for the morning session was Prof. Manjunath from Dept. of Architecture, Acharya Institute of Technology. He spoke about the history of architecture and evolution of civil engineering. He also spoke about the role of an architect and civil engineer in the construction industry and how they can efficiently complete a project on time by co-operating with each other. The second speaker for the forenoon session was Prof. Benny from Dept. of Architecture, Oxford College of Engineering. He demonstrated various innovative methods to calculate the area of a plot by using MS Excel tool. The speaker for the afternoon session was Mr. Satish from M/S Rohini Project Managent Solutions. Mr. Satish explained the importance of project management in the field of civil engineering. He also explained the various stages involved in managing a project. He gave a brief demonstration of MS Project tool, and its applications in the field of project management.
