The department of Biotechnology and the three Science Academies - Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad - had organized a two day Science Academies’ Lecture Workshop on Life Science Research -Present & future. The event started at 9.00 am on Feb 25 with a short inaugural ceremony. The Presidential address was given by the Vice Chancellor of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Fr. Thomas C Mathew. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ajithkumar, IISc, who also gave the keynote address. The annual newsletter of the department of Biotechnology- BIOLINK 2015 edited by Dr Suma S, was also released after the inauguration .The other speakers included Dr Dipshika Chakravortty, IISc who was the convener of the workshop, Dr Balaji, IISc and  Dr Utpal Nath, IISc. Students and faculty from about 15 colleges actively participated in the workshop. During the valedictory ceremony, Prof Dipshika encouraged the students to take up Science passionately and do research on interesting topics. The two day event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Biljo V Joseph who was the Coordinator of the workshop.
