National Workshop on Predictive Modeling with R Programming

R programming is one of the most widely used languages by statisticians and data scientists. The National workshop on Predictive modeling with R Programming was been organized for three days with the objective of providing a platform to acquire knowledge in R programming.
The workshop started on 27 May, 2019 at 10:00 AM with 37 participants from all over INDIA. Day one started with introduction to data science by Dr. Azarudheen S, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), who showed a path way on becoming a data scientist and mentioned skills required for data scientist. The session two for the first day was handled by Dr. Sahana Prasad, Associate Professor, Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). She introduced R programming to the participants and also discussed different data structure and how it is handled in R programming. The third and fourth session of the day was after lunch break at 2:00 PM was by Dr. Azarudheen S, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), gave hands-on training in the R programming packages such as “dplyr” which is used for data manipulation and “ggplot2” which is used for graphical representation.

Day two of the workshop started on 28 May, 2019 at 9:30 AM with introduction of the industry expert Mr. Ravi, Senior Data Scientist, Dell, Bangalore then after, all the session where handed over to Mr. Ravi. During day session one the expert took the participants through basics of statistics such as descriptive statistics and testing of hypothesis (t test, F test, Z test, ANOVA etc) through industrial examples in addition the participants had hands on session on the same after a tea break at 11:00 AM. After Lunch break Mr. Ravi introduced the concept of relationship and how it can be calculated through correlation and regression.  Also, he gave real time examples and data sets to have a practical knowledge on the same. The day 2 was wrapped at 4:45PM with introduction to logistic regression.

On day three 29 May, 2019 sessions started at 9:30 AM with practical training in logistic regression by Mr. Ravi who explained the importance of time series analysis and also gave real time data set to gain practical knowledge to the participants. After the morning tea break, Mr. Ravi gave a brief introduction about market basket analysis and gave hands on training on the same using R programming. During the last two sessions of the workshop Mr. Ravi expounded the topics such as Principal Component Analysis, Decision tree analysis and Cluster analysis with practical examples using R Programming.
The three day National workshop on Predictive Modeling with R programming came to an end with a valedictory session in which Prof. Joy Paulose Head of Department, Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) enlighten the important of  data science and also thanked all the participants of their kind cooperation.
