This working paper studies the cost management approach of Jinabakul Forge Pvt. Ltd, Belgaum, Karnataka, which is a leading manufacturer of alloy steel bearings and gear blanks. JBFL has an evolved approach to manage costs and economic returns. The company practices the “Arm’s length price” method of pricing, where in all costs, direct and indirect, have to be allocated and apportioned to different hammer wise die of forging based upon the activities. Also, keeping the human resource aspect in mind, JBFL encourages its employees to suggest innovative practices, cost reduction methods, and also deputes its employees to work with customers thereby involving its shop floor employees in issues like safety, cost management, quality, productivity and other manufacturing operations.
