            Counselling

University life is an exciting and challenging experience that prepares students for the real world. It is the time when students embark on a journey of self-discovery and academic growth.

A counsellor gives students the opportunity to explore their issues and concerns in a non judgemental, safe and confidential space. They help them to explore, understand and develop new skills to manage their personal and academic lives. They meet on a regular and one to one basis to help them to cope with emotional, personal or mental health concerns. Every school has a batch counsellor with extensive experience supporting students with their struggles of balancing academic demands as well as managing personal life stressors.

Our newest initiatives are that we now have a faculty counsellor who comes every Wednesdays and Thursdays on campus.

CCHS  has offered extended hours for personal counselling offered by Dr. Urmi Shelley, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Group therapy, also known as Listening circles, have sessions that run the length of the semester and are conducted each week. Topics offered during each semester vary but mostly include interpersonal groups, coping skills groups or anxiety management skill groups.

For medical care or long term therapist consultations, counsellors provide referrals to well known institutions or professionals.

My son approached the counsellor last month after a fight ( one of the many) at home with us. The Counsellor personally called me and my husband and helped resolve the issue. She dealt with the emotional outburst very gently and has been instrumental in making some important changes at our end. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts

Mental illness – I FEEL EVERYONE HAS THEIR SILENT AREAS OF MENTAL WEAKNESS

I was a person who had zero belief that somebody could help you through your mind fluctuations. I had honestly come across therapist who usually just convince you to fit into a routine that you feel manic about, I always felt the beauty of psychology science has never been practically implemented, I had a breakdown point with my personal life and carrier at the same point, I started feeling pathetic and low spirited. I had people blame me all over rather than help me stand up from that area of weakness, no one I feel ever listens to the one who is wrong on paper. I was blamed for the ruptures I made, I think a therapist walking into your scape is more like a spiritual enhancement that god offers to you, I felt my sessions with the therapist who wasn’t even designated for me was more like a caring call from the one above. She listened, she felt what I felt and believed in what I said, not even knowing me 30% at the time of our first conversation, I saw her peep through a concave emotional conflict I had as a person, and guide me on how I cement this area in my life better, her patience to accept growing teens and their repetitive nature of flaws, is a crown element for a therapist dealing with our age group of people. Cheers to your goodwill, hope you make many more fragile hearts and minds get stronger

When you climb a ladder, a person is required to hold it to keep the ladder from rocking. Personal counseling at Christ, has been that support throughout my climb in college. Being in a new and big city, it is easy to get tempted by useless attractions and I also became prey to such allurement, slowly drifting away from my purpose. Thankfully, at a very nascent stage I was pulled on the right track by personal counseling sessions from the wonderful counselors that Christ has and that has helped me sail through my 5 years course smoothly. I was regularly motivated and patiently shown the right way to tackle all the distractions that were harmful to me. I am indebted and thankful to the Couselling department for their role and service in my life."

While all of us battle various things at different points in our lives, some battles leave a scar deeper than others. The scars that remind of what were wounds then and the pain associated with it. When I was undergoing something similar, I wasn’t even in the frame of mind to talk about it. While I knew that I had to overcome what was standing right in front of me, I just didn’t know how to. It was when I had lost all hope, college life had taken a toll, and weekends were spent in hospitals, that I for a second got the courage to speak up, and felt like talking for once and therefore got in touch with the on campus counsellor. Things have changed for the better since then. I have healed in many ways and I still am healing due to the support I received from the on campus counsellor. I am glad to have had one moment of courage to seek out for help, and even more blessed to have actually received the best possible support.

Christ counselling Centre is a Blessing for the students of Christ University,In my personal opinion it acts like a guardian angel for me, As I'm far away from my home(Nearly 2200kms).The Counseling centre Guides, keeps a Check and  Enlightens me to Manage my Time, attendance And Mental Balance, It is not only meant for my professional problems but I can also Freely share my Personal Life Concerns with my respective counselor. All the information shared with the Counselor stays Confidential to Ensure my privacy. I'm really Glad that I got (Confidential) Ma'am as my Counselor she is more like a Mother to me, with her grace I'm able to figure out most of my daily life concerns. My Gratitude and Regards to Christ (Deemed to be University) and the Counselling Centre.

Counselling centre- the name suggests a place where some weak would go to seek help, but in reality it is a place where courageous go to enlighten themselves. the place is not just for someone to come out of ‘nobody zone’ but also for one who thinks he/she has more capabilities and wants a torch bearer to explore them. The “Centre of Health & Services” department at CHRIST clearly looks forward to achieving these overall goals along with the individual ones that differ on individual. Issues relating to relationships, health, mental balance, studies, attendance and every aspect is clearly and very actively looked upon by the counsellors with utmost privacy from each of them. the fact that the solution is not served by them by the path is shown is what makes it more prominent in terms for the actions of the department. This makes sure that the student is not made dependant on the department or the counsellor and is also is a safe and healthy place. The Counselling Centre has been providing services like individual counselling and developmental group activities. It is open six days a week and its hours are adapted to students needs. The Counsellors help the students in their day-to-day concerns and also enhance their overall functioning. Workshops on topics relevant to increasing the capacities of the students are regularly conducted by the Counsellors. Research has shown that students of all ages often seek out their peers first, when they need to discuss a problem, thus the department organises a “Peer Education Program”, which luckily I have been a part of.

All of us who’ve been a part of the peer education program would undoubtedly credit our mentors and the course structure with well-deserved praises. But nonetheless how true it is, I want to emphasize on the very fundamental and simplistic ways in which this program might have changed my perspective on life. One thing I can proudly say

My experience with Peer ed classes so far has been very rewarding and productive. The mentors always ensured that the sessions are tailored for us in such a way where we do not feel pressurised and also learn something new in every session. Peer ed has been the most interactive class we have had in the last semester and one that actually isn't stressful. The pandemic and the lockdown have been torturing for many while a boon for some. I somehow found myself in middle ground back in June. Though I did miss the college and interactions with friends, I looked at this quarantine as an opportunity to heal my “flaws” and evolve into a better individual.
I tried meditation, affirmations, shadow

Life was going pretty much normal until this year. It was like everything turned upside down as soon as the pandemic started.
