Social entrepreneurship is the process of creating a platform for funding and marketing innovative and sustainable products while directly addressing social issues and creating an impact in the society and world at large. It creates social entrepreneurs who can bring a change in the society and also make a meaningful profit out of it.
Centre for Social Action, CHRIST University has been practicing social entrepreneurship since the beginning by partnering with community based organizations like Self help Groups, providing seed money to start up cooperative banks in Hoskote, Kolar, Jamkhandi and Bastar. CSA also runs a waste management unit where we make recycled handmade products and are used by the students, departments and for the delegates as mementos.

Christ University has a culture of presenting Delegates and Guest of Honors with mementos made out of eco-friendly and sustainable products. We often present them with Parivarthana handmade eco-friendly diaries, plants and many more. Social Entrepreneurship Cohort aims at expanding their product line by coming up with new innovative ideas for mementos and making sure that every Department in Christ University uses its products and mementos for honoring the Guests. This will prove to be a great opportunity not only for Parivarthana Unit but will benefit the entire University as a whole.

This event helps us empower women and foster a sense of financial independence among them. The community impact of organizing these Vegetable Stalls is that it not only serves as a catalyst for empowering women but also promotes social upliftment. The first step in creating a significant impact in the society is to actively involve the local residents, government bodies and local organizations. The Mela provides the Hoskote SHG Women with a platform to showcase their agricultural products, that is, vegetables which not only helps to boost their self-confidence but also build their business acumen and will provide them with a sense of achievement when they witness financial gains from their hard-work. With increased earnings, they will be able to support their families and break the shackles of dependency. By promoting these SHGs we also support the idea of gender equality and female entrepreneurship and challenge traditional norms revolving around it.

Producing compost is one of the easiest ways of waste reduction in society.Compost is a valuable soil conditioner that improves soil structure, enhances water retention, and provides essential nutrients to plants, promoting healthy and sustainable agriculture. Compost selling will not only provide Parivarthana akkas with a source of income, potentially improving their financial stability and quality of life but also help empower small farmers who can benefit from affordable compost, reducing their expenses on commercial fertilizers and pesticides. Selling of the compost in the market will help these women not only equip entrepreneurial skills but also marketing, and financial management skills among many others.

Innovation and Collaboration are two key components that can prove to be an effective tool for any organization in maximizing the impact created. Innovation allows organizations to find more efficient ways of achieving their mission and serving their target beneficiaries. Collaboration with other organizations or stakeholders can also help pool resources and expertise, further maximizing the impact of their efforts. In this rapidly changing environment, its paramount for everybody to adapt to these changes by developing new programs, services, or approaches. Innovation and Collaboration in solving social issues will keep us ahead of everybody else and also hel[ us come up with solutions at a much faster pace.
