Bastar Community Development Project (BCDP) (Ongoing)

Bastar Community Development Project (BCDP) was launched on 18th October 2015. This is implemented in 34 tribal villages of 19 Panchayats located in Pakhanjore Tehsil of Kanker District in Chhattisgarh. Centre for Social Action (CSA) – CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has been collaborating with Bastar Dharma Kshema Samiti (BDKS) for this project. 

The project's overall objective is to understand and build baseline information on the socio-economic status of the SC/ST/OBC communities and set output indicators for the project period to promote sustainable transformational development. And provide training and integrate the Self-help group Approach to empower the women to develop their social, political, and economic status.

Impact:

  • Formation and strengthening of 71 SHGs in 34 projects impacting villages

  • 12 SHGs have been linked with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and getting benefits. 

  • 651 SHG women and 57 SHGs are trained to set goals for themselves and their community and help achieve them. 

  • 397 SHG women are trained in understanding gender issues and fighting against violence and oppression. 

  • After training on Government welfare schemes - 192 families applied for a Ration card (72 received), and 73 people applied for a Labor card. 

  • 345 SHG members were trained on Forest Land Rights

  • 590 families helped through seeds distribution under kitchen garden promotion and organic farming. 

  • 76 women were supported to improve their livelihood and started earning extra income for the family. 

Vision - benefiting 1500 children, 1400 women, and 800 adolescents/youth from 1709 Tribal families.
