The Master of Social Work in Human Resource Development and Management (MSW HRDM) is a distinct program offered by the Department of Sociology and Social Work at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Central Campus, Bangalore. It is a comprehensive two-year program meticulously designed to equip students for enriching careers in the ever-evolving and dynamic field of Human Resources. This program transcends industry boundaries, extending its reach and relevance to many sectors, including businesses, healthcare institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other organizations. MSW HRDM program is structured to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and theoretical insights necessary to excel in this transformative field. The program delves deeply into the core tenets of Social work and Human Resource Management. With HRDM, the course encompasses talent acquisition, performance management, labor relations, compensation structures, and strategic human resource development. It also explores contemporary HR practices such as employee empowerment, engagement strategies, support and assistantship programs, corporate social responsibility, work-life balance initiatives, and the legal intricacies related to family and children within the workplace. The program introduces students to various skill development workshops, thereby nurturing their practical and technical competencies. These workshops cover a range
of areas, including essential technical skills in software applications like Excel, SAP, and SPSS, as well as other analytical tools, enabling students to leverage data-driven insights for informed decision-making. The program features completing a mini survey and a significant research dissertation.
These research projects are conducted in an industrial context, mirroring the needs of the industry and with the validation of experts in the HR field. The choice of research problems and methodologies is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with analytical and problem-solving capabilities crucial for success in the HR sector.Furthermore, the MSW HRDM program provides students with a unique and immersive learning experience through a series of internships. These internships, spanning six months across four semesters, allow students to gain on-ground expertise in Social Work and HR practices across diverse industries and organizations. This practical exposure empowers students to observe, learn, and engage with the intricacies of Social work and HR management in real-world settings. The department is involved in a strong partnership with Christ University's Center for Social Action (CSA), creating a seamless collaboration that plays a pivotal role in sensitizing students to the pressing social concerns within both the university campus and the broader community that encompasses it. The department and CSA work harmoniously to ensure that students are not only academically prepared but are also deeply engaged with the real-world social challenges in their immediate surroundings. The MSW HRDM program is a transformative Academic journey that prepares students to thrive in the challenging and dynamic realm of Social Work with Human Resources.
