The BSc EMS programme at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) aims to develop scientific temper, reasoning skills and analytical ability in students and orients them to contribute to the society as academicians and professionals. The courses are blended with mathematical tools, dynamic programming and economic theory to develop a holistic approach towards solving real world problems. The curriculum provides rigorous theoretical and practical orientation coupled with internships and value-added courses. This programme is curated to suit the demands of ever-evolving job market and nurtures the aspirants to become Economists, Mathematicians and Statisticians having an array career options such as Data Analysts, Public Policy Makers, University Professors, Civil Servants, Actuaries, Defense Personnel, researchers, and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance).

Economics

The undergraduate courses in economics are structured to contribute to the student’s liberal education with a multiplicity of combinations. The programmes impart analytical skills and intellectual maturity to comprehend the complexities in the working of the economy. The courses provide a sound theoretical basis in economic theory supplemented by practical applications of theories. The first four semesters are devoted to give a firm background in microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics & international economics. In the fifth and sixth semesters, the students take two compulsory courses namely Indian Economy since Independence & Financial Economics. They have elective courses in the final year encompassing two options each semester. The elective courses offered by the department are mathematical methods for economics or health economics in the fifth semester and statistical methods for economics or environmental economics in the sixth semester.
 
Mathematics

The undergraduate courses in Mathematics are designed to enable the students to have a strong foundation in various fields of Mathematics. These courses aim at the enhancement of the analytical, logical, reasoning and problem solving skills of students. Further the courses enable the students to develop their intellect and apply their knowledge in solving real life problems. The courses on Differential calculus, Differential Equations, Real Analysis and Algebra  given in the first four semesters help the students gain foundational knowledge of Mathematics and appreciate the beauty and power of Mathematics. In the final year the students are offered the courses on linear algebra and complex analysis along with an array of elective courses such as Integral Transforms, Mathematical Modeling, Graph Theory, Calculus of Several Variables, Operations Research, Mechanics, Numerical Methods, Discrete Mathematics, Number Theory, Financial Mathematics from which they can choose one course each of their preference for the fifth and sixth semester. Students having an inclination and aptitude to use Mathematical models for problem solving are given the option to undertake a project work instead of an elective course in their final semester. In order to help the students in the exploration of mathematical concepts through technological tools, Mathematic lab courses using Maxima and Python also are introduced.

Statistics

The main objective of the statistics courses are to cultivate statistical thinking among students by acquainting them with various statistical methods and their applications in different fields. Courses of the first four semesters give them in-depth knowledge in theoretical aspects of the subject whereas in the last two semesters, the students are exposed to the application of the subject in various fields like industry, agriculture and population studies.  Also, the students are trained in using software packages for data analysis.

Applicants may apply for the programme from 8 December 2020 when applications will be available online on the University website till the date applications officially close.

Applications for each programme will close approximately a week before the scheduled selection process.

All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID and set a password.  (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.

Applicants must have the following documents before filling the application online:

  • Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 11/ 12, (Mandatory).
  • Fill in all the details in the “detailed application” page. Scan and upload a recent passport size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background) and click “Submit”. On clicking Submit, a viewable and editable page will appear on the screen. In case you need to make any corrections; you may edit the data/details and then click “Confirm Submission”.
  • Make payment using a card and after successful payment, click on submit. A 9 (Nine) digit Application number will be generated. If unable to print the application form due to system/power/internet failure, logon to https://appstat.christuniversity.in, under the “Application Status” page enter the registered Email-ID and password to view and print the application form. (After payment if you do not receive the 9 (Nine) digit application number, then your application process is incomplete, and payment will go in for refund process. The refund will take about 15 days and must be checked with your bank).

Important

Candidates falling under any of these categories (PIO / OCI / SAARC / AFRICA / ASEAN / OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS) must send the required supporting documents (Copy of Passport, Copy of PIO / OCI card whichever is applicable and Copy of Class 10 & Class 11/12 Marks card) in an A4 size Envelope ONLY through Registered Post / Courier to The Co-ordinator, Office of International Affairs, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Hosur Road, Bengaluru - 560 029, Karnataka, India, Phone: +91 80 4012 9439.

  • All other candidates will have to carry the application printout, original documents and a set of photocopies to the selection process on the allotted date, time and venue mentioned on the selection process admit card.
  • All applicants must make a note of the username and password, the application number, programme applied for, selection process date and city for all further purposes.
  • All travel arrangements if necessary, have to be made in advance.
  • The Important Dates section must be referred to before filling the application, or candidates can choose the selection process dates while filling the application online.
  • No request for change of date/city will be entertained.
  • Applicants applying while in their final year of schooling must carry the marks card up to the previous year when they report to the selection process venue. Documents to be carried are application printout along with the original class X, and Class XI / XII marks cards and a set of photocopies.
  • Original marks cards and ID proof will be verified during the selection process.

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
   5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
   5.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under NRI category

 

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before July 15th of the admission year.

  • If the Application is incomplete or incorrect, the University Management has the right to reject it.

  • The institution is not responsible for any application reaching after the stipulated date /time and such applications will not be processed.

  • It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for 2 years, there will be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.

  • Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) with an aggregate of 50% marks from any recognised Board in India.
  • It is compulsory to have studied Mathematics at Class XII level.
  • Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2021 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

  • Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
  • Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.

Time of Payment: All the candidates have to pay the I Year fee immediately after confirmation of the admission. II & III Year fee must be remitted before the commencement of final examinations of II and IV Semesters respectively.

 

It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for three years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.

1. NRI fee is applicable for first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).

2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;

   2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.

3. To claim Indian / Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India / Karnataka. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).

4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if any applicable.

5. All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, The fee may be paid through the following option:

Scanned copies of the class 10, class 11/12 marks card should be uploaded while filling the application.

* If class 12 marks are not available at the time of applying, then marks of any test conducted during class 11 can be uploaded.

The office of admissions will verify the scorecards.

*Applications with no scorecards or not clear scanned copies will be rejected and termed as Not Eligible

E-Admit card will be generated as per the important dates mentioned in the website

 

 

Important Instructions

  • Read all Important Links (Eligibility, Documents requirements etc) thoroughly.
  • The date and time for the selection process are auto-generated by the system. Therefore, any request for changes will not be entertained.
  • A Google calendar invite will be sent to your registered email id, ONE day before the MP/PI selection process.
  • Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date and time will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • Candidates must show the original Government recognized photo identity card (Aadhar card/Passport/Voter ID/Recent College ID card) for attending the online selection process. Failing which the application will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • All original Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Card (Students pursuing their final year must have the statement of marks up to the previous semester/year) should be available for verification during the personal interview round.
  • It is recommended to login atleast 15mts before the scheduled time to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
  • Impersonation or any suspicious behaviour (prompting by a third person or accessing notes/gadgets) will be treated as malpractice and the application will be termed as “Not Selected”.
  • The responsibility of satisfying the eligibility criteria for admission rests with the student/candidate. The issue of the E-Admit Card for the selection process does not imply that the eligibility criteria are satisfied.
