BCom (Finance and Investment)/ Honours / Honours with Research
The BCom (Finance and Investment) programme is designed for students who wish to acquire advanced knowledge in Finance and Investment and prepares them for a career within the broad frame of financial sector, including profiles related to Investment Banking, Financial Management, Equity and Debt management, Commercial Banking, Insurance Underwriting, Risk Management and Management Consulting.
The programme’s curriculum is set at an ‘advanced’ level for finance and investment and is designed with utmost care building on the experience of more than a decade of running a very successful programme – the erstwhile BCom (Honours) that has produced noteworthy alumni who work have successfully cleared professional qualifications such as CFA , CISI, III and have gone ahead to pursue advanced qualifications in the stream of Finance and Investment from top institutions in our country such as IIM’s or from public Ivy League colleges
Through the BCom (Finance and Investment) programme a student develops a comprehensive understanding of ‘Finance’ and ‘Investment’ by exploring interconnected and core disciplines such as accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics, trade and commerce, risk and strategic management. The courses taught under this programme are of the likes of Financial statement analysis, Capital Markets, Corporate finance, Strategic Financial Management, Equity Investments, Fixed Income, Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Alternative Investments, Financial Planning and Control and certain emerging areas such as Islamic Finance, Sustainable Finance and ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) investing. These courses are benchmarked with professional qualifications such as CFA on the finance side and CISI on the investments side.
The unique pedagogical features of the programme exposes students to industry standard database such as Bloomberg, Virtual Stock Exchange experience, ‘Trading Floor’ (simulation of trading), Student Managed Investment Funds , Mergers and Acquisition Business Games, the Wallstreet Wolf (Investment Banking make believe) and the ESG immersion tour in collaboration with CISI. The innovative storytelling and case study based methodology and the modern evaluation techniques gives the learner an immersive and fun learning experience.
BCom (Finance and Investment Honours)
The fourth year will focus on the advanced level of knowledge in the field of Finance and Investments. The students will have project work in the final semester. The students who successfully complete the fourth year/eight semesters and satisfy the minimum credit requirement as per NEP guidelines, will be awarded with a BCom (Finance and Investment Honours) degree.
BCom (Finance and Investment Honours with Research)
Students who secure 75% marks and above in the first six semesters and wish to undertake research at the undergraduate level can choose a research stream in the fourth year. They should do a research project or dissertation under the guidance of a faculty member of the University. The research project/dissertation will be in the major discipline. The students who secure 160 credits, including 12 credits from a research project/dissertation, will be awarded the BCom (Finance and Investment Honours with Research) degree.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Eligibility for the programme is a pass with a minimum of 70% at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / State Boards) in the Commerce stream from any recognised Board in India.
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2023 may apply with their class X and XI marks
Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:
Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
