Introduction

The Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell (TLEC) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) works towards enhancing the quality of curricula and teaching-learning-assessment practices at the University. In the present scenario, given the emphasis by the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA)  on the adoption of a Learning Outcome-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) and the focus on formative assessment, TLEC attend to the need for such an initiative in a higher education teaching, learning, and assessment. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is proud to be one of the pioneers to address this gap through institutional mechanisms.
The primary mission of the Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell is to support the Departments and the faculty of the University in enhancing the quality of curricula and teaching-learning-assessment practices within the framework of the emphasis  of the University on holistic education and development. The Cell was conceptualised in 2015 as a part of the Office of Examinations to work towards improving the teaching, learning, and assessment practices of the University. As an initiative of IQAC, it was formally constituted as the Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell in 2018.
TLEC is currently supporting the adoption and implementation of Outcomes-Based Education and is reviewing the teaching, learning, and assessment practices that are followed by the various departments across the  University. The Cell also works on conceptualising, designing, and organising workshops that would enhance curricular and teaching-learning-assessment practices at the University.

Objectives of TLEC

  • Support the development of outcome-based curricula across disciplines
  • Develop policy documents for curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment for the University
  • Review the teaching, learning, and assessment practices of the University
  • Conduct workshops on teaching, learning, and assessment for in service faculty
  • Undertake research on higher education
