Session -I
The topic for the session was Evolving Organizational Culture.
The Dean of Sciences Dr S Kulkarni addressed the gathering. He spoke about how culture and strategy are interwoven and the need for establishing a culture that embraces strategy. He also emphasized the fact that focus on research creates a positive culture that doesn’t oppose improvement. He encouraged the faculty to adopt a clan culture that involves collaborations and mentoring. He emphasized that the culture the organization needs to imbibe is clan, adhocracy, hierarchy and marketing in right proportions.
Session -II
The topic for the session was Strategic Plan 2018-23 initiatives and implementation.
The strategic plan was presented by Dr Hari Bhaskar. The faculty discussed on roles of the people responsible and effective execution of their responsibilities. The faculty decided to have a monthly evaluation of the execution of the strategic plan. The discussion on implementation approach for the current year 2018-19 was led by Dr Smita N. The faculty decided to focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary research and consultancy. The department planned to articulate better on global, local needs with respect to the courses offered. The department strategized on CIA analysis and effective mentoring.
Session -III
The topic for the session was Audit 2017-18.
Dr TV Joseph, Head of the Department of Mathematics addressed the faculty. He presented the Audit report 2017-18 and appreciated the faculty for the overall performance of the department in the assessment by the audit committee. The faculty discussed and deliberated on the points in which the department lacked and strategized for betterment in those areas. It is suggested to incorporate corrective measures to overcome the low performances in certain areas especially programme outcomes with regard to curriculum. It was decided to focus and improve on student support and progression. A special emphasis was made that department needs to strive towards more externally funded projects, consultancy and collaborations.
Session -IV
The topic for the session was Strategic Leadership.
The Dean of Sciences Dr S Kulkarni addressed the gathering. He spoke about strategic leadership that involves hiring, nurturing, motivating, assessing and having a great succession plan. He said that teams under Strategic Leadership shared goals, performed competence based roles and formed trust based relationships. He encouraged faculty to be a part of solution rather than the problem. He analyzed the current NAAC accreditation status and set a goal of achieving A++ accreditation.
