Faculty Development programme 2016
Department of Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Engineering, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) organized Quality Improvement Program (QIP) on Research Enablers and it’s Thrust Areas from 23rd to 26th May 2016 at Azyme Biosciences Private Limited, Bengaluru.
Azyme Biosciences houses industry standard and high caliber research grade equipments and instruments. Six faculty members namely Dr. A V Vijaysankar, Dr. Nityashree N, Prof. Nobi K Daniel, Dr. Mothi Krishna Mohan, Dr. Benson K Money and Dr. Shilpashree S P have attended three days extensive training on handling of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), GC (Gas Chromatography), and GC-MS (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry) instruments.
Dr. Mahesh, CEO of Azyme Biosciences Pvt Ltd, commenced the session with the theory of various chromatographic techniques such as column, Ion exchange and affinity and size exclusion. The faculty members had an opportunity to handle HPLC instrument. The second day started with the theory and applications of GC by Mr. S N Krishnakumar who is the founder of Spark Technologies and director of Azyme Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. The third day started with an impressive talk on GC-MS by Mr. Krishna Kumar and Mr. Venkataramana, associate with Spark Technologies. Exhaustive amount of information about the instrumentation, theory and analysis patterns of these instruments was shared by all the speakers very effectively.
A visit to Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratory, Kanakapura Road, Banashankari, Bengaluru, a unit of Krishi Sankeerna, was also arranged where the GC-MS facility and analysis was demonstrated.
