MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ZOOLOGY

The fields of zoology and animal science are constantly evolving and emerging. The post graduate program in Zoology offers a fundamental overview of scientific topics related to zoology, evolution, taxonomy, laboratory animal science, and animal facility management. Topics of study generally include basic science and animal biology as well as clinical, ethical, and statistical education on scientific experimentation. Students apply the theoretical knowledge gained during the program to the actual practice of laboratory animal science. This programme is designed to sustain students’ motivation and enthusiasm not only to appreciate different life forms but also to inspire them in the dissemination of the concept of biodiversity conservation. It will develop problem solving skills in students and encourage them to carry out innovative research projects thereby enkindling in them the spirit of knowledge creation.

Objectives:

To apply the theoretical knowledge gained during the program to the actual practice of laboratory animal science .

To develop problem solving skills in students and encourage them to carry out innovative research projects thereby enkindling in them the spirit of knowledge creation.

To equip the students to perform functions that demand higher competence in   national/international organizations.

      Programme Outcome

The core biology subjects like Cytology, Biochemistry, Microbiology etc which are offered in first year makes the students appreciate the implications of these subjects in further research in Animal Sciences. All the courses in the programme are carefully designed to equip the students for competitive exams like CSIR NET, SET etcand also to write research proposals for grants. Modules on Forensic Biology, Aquaculture, Entomology, Bioanalytical Tools, Biostatistics etc would make the students ready to take up either jobs or research in those aspects.
