About UGRIP
Department of Mathematics
The Undergraduate Research Immersion Programme (UGRIP) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is an initiative designed to integrate hands-on research into the undergraduate curriculum within the School of Sciences. The programme was inaugurated in July 2024.
Programme Overview
The UGRIP aims to build a strong foundation in scientific research methods, critical thinking, and collaborative research among undergraduate students, with opportunities leading to potential publications in reputed journals.
Objectives
The programme aims to foster a culture of research and innovation among undergraduate students by providing structured opportunities to participate in meaningful research, enhancing both academic and professional competencies.
Duration and Commencement
- Programme duration: Semester III to Semester VI
- Research Immersion begins in Second Year
- 3 additional research credits awarded in Semester VI
- Research Awareness & Initiation sessions conducted during Semester II
Eligibility and Selection Process
- Minimum 70% marks in Semester I & II examinations
- Minimum 85% attendance in the first year
- Submission of Expression of Interest (short proposal) through Google Form
- Final selection through a formal interview

- Best Undergraduate Researcher Award: Three students per department; each receives Rs. 10,000/-
- Publication Incentives: For publications in Q1 and Q2 journals (up to 40% as per university policy)
- Competition Incentives: Cash awards for winners at State and National level project competitions
