A competitive LAN Gaming event was organized on the 22nd and 25th of July, 2016, by the Association of Students of Computer Science and Information Technology with Innovation (ASCII) with the aim of bringing together students of different departments and identifying talented individuals.

A lot of planning had to be done in order for this event to take place. A dedicated LAN-enabled lab was chosen and set up by student volunteers a week prior to the event, with support from IT Services. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a first-person shooter game, was to be hosted for the same.
The preliminary round saw a huge turnout of approximately 75 people, an excellent response considering a host of other events taking place simultaneously. 18 were shortlisted for the next round. Of these 18 participants, 6 made it to the final, which was held on July 25th, 2016. The top 3 players were declared the victors.

The feedback from the participants was favourably good. The coordinators of the event did a fantastic job managing the overwhelming number of students that turned up and it helped further develop their skills at managing such events. The event was an enormous success and has acted as a precursor for developing a Gaming Cell under ASCII in the coming months.
