About the Programme
The BA B.Ed. Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) offered by the School of Education, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), is a four-year full-time undergraduate programme offered at the Central Campus. The programme is designed to prepare competent, reflective, and professionally grounded educators for the Secondary Stage of school education.
Aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the programme integrates disciplinary learning with professional teacher education. Students pursue Education as one major along with a disciplinary major and a paired minor. The available BA B.Ed. combinations are: Education and English with History minor and Education and History with English minor.
The programme gives importance to both subject knowledge and pedagogical preparation. Students build academic grounding in English or History while developing the professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions required to teach adolescent learners.
The curriculum includes foundations of education, disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses, stage-specific content-cum-pedagogy, curriculum and assessment, inclusive education, educational technology, research, school observation, internships, and community engagement.
The programme prepares students to teach across recognised school education contexts, including national, international, and IB school settings. Select eligible students may also have the opportunity to pursue the International Baccalaureate Educator Certificate (IBEC) in Teaching and Learning, strengthening their understanding of inquiry-based learning, reflective practice, and global perspectives in education.
Through school-based practice, reflective learning, disciplinary study, and professional preparation, the programme aims to nurture teachers who are academically competent, ethically grounded, socially responsible, and committed to lifelong learning.
