PhD Programme - Overview

Quantum technologies are at the forefront of the next technological revolution, with potential applications in computing, secure communication, precision measurement, and advanced materials science. India’s National Quantum Mission (NQM) highlights the urgent need to develop indigenous capabilities in quantum science and engineering to ensure strategic autonomy and economic competitiveness. The quantum tech industry is growing rapidly, with projected market values exceeding $100 billion by 2040. There is a growing need for quantum-literate engineers,
researchers, and developers in areas like: Quantum computing hardware/software, Quantum-safe encryption, Precision navigation and sensing. India must nurture startups and deep-tech ventures in this domain.
The centre CQTCS is focusing exclusively on the integration of quantum technologies and research on complex systems science. One of the major responsibilities of this center is to train students with both quantum and complex systems expertise, who will fit into this emerging market. In this
regard, we aim to offer a PhD programme in Physics and PhD programme in Computer Science from the centre.
