About the Programme

 

 

Data Science is popular in all academia, business sectors, and research and development to make effective decision in day-to-day activities. The Master of Data Science (MDS) is a postgraduate program that combines computer science and statistics to foster proficiency in data-driven decision-making. It is a two-year course comprising six trimesters.

This programme aims to provide opportunity to all candidates to master the skill sets specific to data science with research bent. The curriculum supports the students to obtain adequate knowledge in theory of data science with hands on experience in relevant domains and tools. The MSc Data Science programme is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge in data analytics, statistical computing, machine learning, cloud technologies, and intelligent systems. The curriculum integrates computer science, statistics, mathematics, and modern data-driven technologies to prepare students for emerging careers in analytics and artificial intelligence. The programme emphasizes practical learning through laboratories, case studies, mini projects, internships, and research activities. Students gain hands-on exposure to Python, R, Java, SQL, MongoDB, Django, Hadoop, cloud platforms, and modern analytical tools used in the industry.

Data Analyst

This track focuses on extracting meaningful insights from data to support business decisions and strategy. Students learn data visualization techniques to create interactive dashboards and reports, apply statistical analysis to identify trends and patterns, and develop business intelligence skills to convert data into actionable insights.

Data Scientist

This track prepares students to build advanced analytical models and intelligent systems for solving complex problems. It covers machine learning model development for prediction and classification, data preprocessing and transformation techniques, and the application of AI solutions across various real-world domains.

Data Engineer

This track is designed for students interested in building and managing data infrastructure at scale. It includes working with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark, managing structured and unstructured databases, and integrating data systems with cloud platforms for efficient processing and storage.
