About the Programme
The BA Music / Creative Media programme at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is a four-year Honours degree that integrates Western Classical Music performance with contemporary creative media production. Students develop as musicians, media creators, and professionals through a curriculum grounded in Outcome-Based Education, the NEP 2020 multiple entry/exit framework, and a tri-domain assessment architecture. The programme is offered by the Department of Western Classical Music within the School of Arts and Humanities at the Bengaluru Central Campus. It is designed for students who want to work at the intersection of music and the creative industries.
Conservatoire Training Meets Production Skills
From Semester 1, students receive individual instrumental or vocal tuition alongside structured creative media coursework — learning to compose, produce, and distribute music for film, digital platforms, and live performance simultaneously.
Industry-Current Media Curriculum
Creative Media courses progress from foundational video composition and writing for media through to AR/VR/Mixed Reality, digital production, and a substantial Capstone Project (5 credits) that integrates all production skills before Year 4.
Internationally Validated Assessment System
Every assessment is mapped to the CAP (Cognitive–Affective–Psychomotor) framework and tracked through the automated attainment calculator, validated through international research.
Direct Pathway to Research or Performance Careers
The Honours with Research pathway includes a formal dissertation and research methodology training at NHEQF Level 8, while the Music Honours pathway culminates in a Capstone Performance and Performance Residency.
Why Choose This Programme?

Production-Ready by Year 3
Students complete courses in video composition, sound design, digital storytelling, film production, AR/VR, and a 5-credit Capstone Project.
Internationally Benchmarked
Curriculum reviewed by international experts and aligned with partner institutions including BSAM, Campbellsville University (USA), and Conservatoire di Bari (Italy).
Honours Pathways
Music/Theatre, Music Performance (practice-based) or Music Research in Pedagogy or Ethnomusicology (dissertation-based).
Dual Professional Internships
Two compulsory internships (Music and Media, 120 hours each) in recording studios, film production houses, and performing arts organisations.
Choose Your Track
The BAMC programme builds toward two distinct Year 4 pathways, both anchored by three years of integrated music and media training.
For students who want to perform. Intensive training in acting, dance, and singing for the stage, culminating in a Capstone Performance and Performance Residency. Graduates are prepared for careers as performing artists, ensemble musicians, music theatre professionals, and media performers.
Pedagogy or Ethnomusicology (Honours with Research) For students who want to investigate. Formal Research Methodology training and a supervised Dissertation (12 credits in Semester 8). Graduates are positioned for postgraduate research, music education leadership, academic careers, and PhD study.
All BAMC students complete a substantial Capstone Project (5 credits) in Semester 6 that integrates digital production, AR/VR, and media technology skills — a portfolio-ready deliverable before entering Honours.
