Performing Arts
Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music and contemporary theatre
Why Choose This Programme?
Holistic Artistic Expression
This combination allows you to master your body, voice, and mind simultaneously. Bharatanatyam develops physical grace, stamina, and spatial awareness; Carnatic music builds vocal strength, breath control, and pitch precision; and theatre hones your ability to weave these elements together into compelling narratives.
Deep Cultural Immersion
Studying these three disciplines provides a profound connection to rich historical and cultural roots, particularly of South India. You will engage deeply with ancient texts, mythology, poetry, and traditional storytelling frameworks.
Vibrant Performance Culture
Christ University is widely renowned across India for its electric and highly active cultural scene. Choosing this programme here means you aren't just learning in an isolated studio; you are immediately plugged into a campus that actively celebrates the performing arts. With massive intra- and inter-collegiate fests (like Darpan, Blossoms, and In-Bloom) and the opportunity to audition for prestigious university-level dance, music, and theatre teams, you are guaranteed immense, real-world stage exposure.
High Emotional Intelligence and Empathy
A core component of all three disciplines is understanding and conveying human emotion. Whether you are exploring Abhinaya (expressional dance) in Bharatanatyam, evoking a specific Rasa (aesthetic flavor/emotion) through a Carnatic composition, or stepping into a character's shoes in a play, you are constantly exercising your empathy.
Rigorous Discipline and Resilience
Let's be candid: mastering classical arts and theatre is not easy. It requires years of repetitive practice, physical endurance, and the ability to accept and apply constructive criticism. This programme will instill an iron-clad work ethic, patience, and resilience—soft skills that are highly sought after in absolutely any career path you choose to pursue later.
Diverse Career Pathways
While becoming a solo performer is a wonderful goal, this specific skill set opens doors to a highly versatile career. Graduates can pursue paths in choreography, stage direction, arts administration, teaching, sound design, acting for screen or stage, and even specialized fields like drama or dance movement therapy.
Choose Your Track
To truly master an art form, you must understand the "why" behind the "how." Theoretical study grounds your physical practice in deep historical and philosophical context.
This is where theory meets the stage. It covers both your individual daily discipline and the massive collaborative effort required to bring a show to life
The modern art world requires artists to be independent thinkers and savvy businesspeople. This aspect prepares you for a sustainable career beyond just waiting to be cast in a role
