About the Programme
CHRIST (Deemed to be University) offers the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics through its Department of Economics. The programme is designed to produce scholars capable of conducting original, rigorous, and policy-relevant research. It combines strong theoretical foundations with advanced empirical methods, preparing graduates for careers in academia, research institutions, public policy, and international organisations. The PhD coursework is structured as per UGC Regulations 2022 and is guided by experienced faculty supervisors and a Research Advisory Committee (RAC).

Our mission is two-fold. First, to prepare students to understand and resolve the numerous challenges in the economy through relevant research-based education. To facilitate this, we have meticulously designed our undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs.
The eclectic mix of courses offered, allows the students to capitalize on their metiers and overcome their weaknesses. In order to ensure a more applied and dynamic curriculum, we place high emphasis on dissertations, internships and data analysis training and motivate students to embrace new academic challenges to hone their critical thinking skills and enhance their competitive advantage in the job market. Some of our alumni are professors in top academic departments around the world, and are making an impact in both Government and corporate entities.
