The Petra Christian University (PCU) has run a program called Community Outreach Program (COP) since 1994, which was gradually developed into a Service-Learning program for both PCU and international students. The program is held every summer and aims to introduce students to social issues experienced by communities and to foster community development. In addition to the COP, the concept of Service-Learning is also applied in classes in order to provide students with learning experiences beyond the classroom. Overall, PCU hopes to encourage commitment to serve others, prepare the young generation for service leadership, and enhance the Christian values in Christian higher education as well as in the community through the development of Service-Learning.

The Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Philippines been integrating the concept of Service-Learning into their curriculum for almost 10 years. • As to present, the Asst. Director of the Department served as the Service-Learning Coordinator.
• The coordinator and some of the heads of the institution attended some symposia and benchmarking on S-L implementation.
• UCC created its own framework through its coordinator. The model/framework is an output of research.
• The S-L pedagogy is included in the curriculum. Three (3) subjects per department are required to utilize the S-L. Moreover, in the basic education, all student in the Senior High School are required to finish S-L activities.
• The department hosted in-campus Service-Learning Summits and conferences.

Established in 2014, the SUSS full-time degree programs aim to cultivate students that seeks to develop application-oriented and self-directed learners who have a strong sense of social responsibility. SUSS strives to equip each student with the three key qualities essential for future success: Head, Heart, and Habit.

One way in which SUSS helps students develop these qualities and skills is through Service-Learning and Community Engagement. Overseen by the Office of Service-Learning and Community Engagement, the program aims to empower student to enhance and act on their sense of social responsibility, grounded on real-world ideas and practices to contribute meaningfully to society. It creates a connection between the university and the community that facilitates unique cross-sector collaboration and shared resources that help to enhance society's well-being. Through community engagement, students invite community partners to become co-educators to guide them in their journey of growth to become leaders in society.

Through the Service-Learning & Community Engagement graduation requirement, students learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully-organised service experiences that meet actual community needs. In addition, SUSS offers students opportunities to serve abroad and/or to integrate service into their work attachment, which is a mandatory 24-week work period.
