PikaPlay, the Games and Anime Club, will screen “Pacific Rim” on 2nd November 2026 to give students an engaging co-curricular experience centred on science fiction and popular culture.

The screening will introduce participants to the film’s distinctive portrayal of giant monsters (kaiju), futuristic technology, and human–machine collaboration.

Through its visual storytelling, world-building, and action sequences, the film offers an opportunity to explore themes commonly associated with science fiction and anime-inspired narratives.

The event aims to encourage students to appreciate cinematic storytelling while fostering a shared interest in films, gaming culture, and speculative fiction.

It will also provide an informal space for students to interact, exchange perspectives, and engage with club members and other audience members.

By combining entertainment with opportunities for reflection and discussion, the screening seeks to strengthen student participation in the Games and Anime Club and promote a vibrant co-curricular environment that celebrates contemporary popular culture and collaborative engagement.
