Dr. Shobana Mathews holds a Ph.D. in Sound and Spatiality. Her research explores ?Reading Song in Performance as Aural Narrative,? focusing on spatiality in select albums by Mark Knopfler, through Henri Lefebvre?s concepts of space. She completed an M.Phil. on "Folksong as Protest," specifically studying the works of Bob Dylan, long before Dylan's Nobel Prize recognition. An alumna of MCC, Tambaram, and WCC, Dr. Mathews has academic roots in Tamil Nadu. She grew up across Delhi, Calcutta, and Bangalore, attending Bishop Cotton Girls? High School. Her academic journey reflects a deep connection with literature and the arts. Before entering academia, Dr. Mathews explored careers in classical dance, painting, and advertising.
