Dr. S. Subramanian is an accomplished economist specializing in agricultural economics and sustainable development. His research focuses on the energy-water-food nexus, approached through a behavioral lens. Dr. Subramanian holds a PhD in Economics from the Institute for Social and Economic Change. He also earned an M.Phil. and Master's in Economics from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. Before joining Christ University, he taught at IILM University and PES University. Dr. Subramanian has worked as a consultant for TRIOs Development Support, contributing to impactful projects. These include research on maternal nutrition funded by J-PAL South Asia and evaluations for Bangalore Metro and Sakshaar Bharat Programmes. He regularly writes for the Deccan Herald, focusing on economic and social issues. His articles advocate reasoned decision-making and sustainable practices. His research is also published in reputed journals, covering topics like rural employment and the water-energy-food nexus. Dr. Subramanian mentors doctoral candidates on subjects like climate change and MSME sustainability. He is currently establishing an EconLab at Christ University and exploring neuroeconomics.
