1 MSc Zoology students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bengaluru visited Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysore on 17/02/20 as a part of the curriculum (Practical in Animal Phylogeny and evolution MZOO251) with Dr. Krishnakumar V K as faculty incharge. The team started from CHRIST University Campus by college bus at 7.30 am and reached the Zoo by 12.00 pm. The journey provided real exposure to a lot of species from different phyla including aves, mammals, amphibians and reptiles. It houses more than 1450 specimens belonging to 168 species representing more than 30 countries. Anaconda and peacock were some of the attracting animals of the zoo. Students were made aware of the various concepts of animal phylogeny and evolution pattern of animals belonging to same family and the diversity in life during the course o evolution.
