The Biodiversity marathon initiative was taken up by Green Army, Dept of Life Sciences under the guidance of Dr P U Antoney in collaboration with Krushnamegh Kunte, a researcher at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore and his team. It dealt mainly with citizen science. Th audience was told how the data they provide in the form of photos (which represent sightings of that particular species) can be uploaded on various websites that deal with different taxa each, which greatly helps researchers and also aids in general data collection which can be used elsewhere.
