The triple major students of PSECO and EPS final year pursuing the Environmental Course were taken for a field exposure service learning to different water bodies in Bangalore city. The trip covered Ulsoor Lake, Bellandur Lake, and Agara Lake. The purpose of the trip is twofold in nature. First, the students were allowed an opportunity to practically see for themselves the extent of pollution in water bodies in the city and to examine what might be the causes for it. There were discussions pertaining to the lack of stringency on the part of the policymakers to arrest the pollution of water bodies by penalizing the industries that dispose of their wastes into streams and lakes. Secondly, the students were engaged in cleaning plastics and a few other garbage in the vicinity of the lakes to contribute their services towards lake restoration.
