On 24th July 2017 MTech Structural Engineering students accompanied by 2 faculty members (DrSujathaUnnikrishnan&Prof. ThejasGowda) visited a construction site at Kanmanike, of     B G Shirke Construction Technology Private Limitedlocated.
Precast RCC elements are used for construction of a multistory structure. Students could witness precasting process, concreting of elements like slabs, beams and columns in precast units, casting units and workshop. They could also witness lifting and placing of elements. Students could understand the advantages of precasting, and casting and erection process. The advantages of a mechanized process were quite visible. The work progress was as seen in a factory. Staff members of B G Shirke Construction Technology Private Limited were cooperative and helpful. A senior staff member, MrJagadish accompanied the team and explained many of the technical aspects.
Overall, it was a good learning experience.  I thank the Management, Dean and HOD for permitting us for this site visit.
