Centre for Counselling and Health Services

The Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS), an integral part of the University, is a student and faculty support service, providing motional and psychological support, medical first aid and basic health services.

With a 15-member enthusiastic team of counsellors, a Medical Officer and four nurses, the Centre endeavours to provide a nurturing environment wherein students are empowered to adapt to the dynamic environment, harness the best of their resources and face life challenges while achieving their academic goals.

Overview

The Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS), an integral part of the University, is a student and faculty support service, providing motional and psychological support, medical first aid and basic health services.
With a 15-member enthusiastic team of counsellors, a Medical Officer and four nurses, the Centre endeavours to provide a nurturing environment wherein students are empowered to adapt to the dynamic environment, harness the best of their resources and face life challenges while achieving their academic goals.
Each school, depending on the volume of students, has one or two counsellors assigned to them. The Counsellors are available from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on weekdays and 9.00 am to 1 pm on Saturdays, while the Health Centre facilities are available from 6:30 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 7:30 am to 1:15pm on Saturdays.

Role Of The Centre
The Centre aims at helping students to make proper adjustments in academic pursuit and improved quality of life. The counsellors motivate and support the students to regularly attend classes and to prepare for the exams systematically. Guidance and Counselling in our University is a professional activity based on certain well-accepted principles.

Objectives

    • To provide counseling and health services in an accessible and nurturing environment that recognises unique needs of students community
    • To accompany students in various phases of their lives
    • To support students cope with academic and social pressure
    • To build a peer support network through the Peer Education Open elective course which acts as the first line of communication in times of distress. It fosters non-academic expertise with life skills, soft skills, compassion and  community giving
