Fullbright FLTA Note
Dr. Dishari Chattaraj, Assistant Professor at the School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bannerghatta Road Campus, has been awarded the Fulbright FLTA Fellowship for the year 2019-2020. She will be hosted by the Dhar India Studies Program, Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, Indiana University Bloomington where she will teach courses across two semesters in the domain of India Studies wherein she will be indulged in active classroom-based research on native languages in India and its cultural implications.
Dr. Dishari Chattaraj’s Fulbright endeavor aims to enrich her skills and experiences in the field of Language Teaching and Learning. As a part of this fellowship, she will be engaged in the creation, production, and, assessment of course materials and analyzing their relevance in the contemporary post-method era. Emerging from the concerns in her doctoral research on cognition-metacognition-strategizing in language education and performance related success among adults, she aims to explore the various ways in which socio-cultural and extra-linguistic experiences impact the acquisition and learning of languages. During the course of the program, she will significantly contribute towards developing curriculums and conducting workshops in her area of study. In the process, she aims to integrate her experiences gained from the Fulbright Fellowship with that of her teaching experience in English and Cultural Studies at CHRIST by exploring the contextual relevance and its impact on learner-centered pedagogic practices.
