The Altius 2018 is a National Level Economics Festival which comprises of 6 events, all of which were consciously designed to benefit the students of economics. We had students from 10colleges/universities hailing from different parts of the country as participants this year. The Economics Department has taken initiative to ensure that Altius 2018 is impressionable in more ways than one.  This is evident from the theme that has been chosen for this year’s festival ‘Creativity and Innovation’.

As the tradition goes in Christ University, the inauguration began with the ‘lighting of the lamp’ ceremony accompanied by an invocation song. This exhibited the auspiciousness of the occasion also ensuring that the entire program would be carried out with a sense of belief and commitment. Soon after this, the program coordinator, Dr Mahesh E formerly addressed the gathering with a welcome speech.

The Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr John Joseph Kennedy was then called onto to deliver the presidential address. The Dean made a notable remark on the efforts put by faculty members and students for the inception of Altius 2018; he also shared with us his perspectives and expectations from this broad initiative.

Next the Chief Guest, Prof Abdul Aziz, Honorary Visiting Professor ISEC, Senior ICSSR Fellow, New Delhi, delivered the key note address.  Delighted by the conscious choice of this year’s theme, he began to throw light on the importance of having such activities which ensures practical experiences. He believes that ‘Altius 2018’ will act as a platform for students to nurture their creative skills which is considered very much essential to deal with the economic complexities of today.

Dr Joshy K J, Head, Dept of Economics then delivered the vote of thanks expressing heartfelt gratitude to all the faculty members, students and to all those who had made contributions for the advent of Altius 2018.
Before drawing an end to the inaugural ceremony, the Christ University dance team – Advaya entrained the audience to a strong dance performance, just enough to kick-start the Altius 2018 Journey at Christ University.
