Master of Philosophy (Physics)

Introduction to Program:
The Master of Philosophy in Physics is a programme designed to provide advanced study and training in research in Physics. The Department of Physics offers various specializations in Materials Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics and Nuclear Physics for the M. Phil programme. The M. Phil programme in Physics will be conducted based on a credit system of one year and consisting of three semesters. After completion of the course work, the candidate has to submit the dissertation by the end of third semester.
Assesment Pattern

 

Question paper pattern for RPH131: Research Methodology

 

a)    Question paper has to be set for the total marks of 100

 

b)    Examination duration is 3 hours

 

c)     The syllabus is divided in to four major units.

 

d)    There will be two sections with two subdivisions

 

e)    Part I of section A and B will contain 8 questions out of those 6 questions to be answered. Each question will carry 5 marks.

 

f)     Part II of Section A and B will contain 3 questions out of those 2 questions to be answered. Each question will carry 10 marks.

 

Section A

 

I. Answer any six out of eight questions ( 6×5 = 30)

 

II. Answer any tow out of three questions (2×10=20)

 

Section B

 

III. Answer any six out of eight questions ( 6×5 = 30)

 

IV. Answer any tow out of three questions (2×10=20)

Dissertation

 

The students are given major emphasis to pursue research work on a chosen research problem. The modular objectives include research proposal, presentations on the research work done, submission of dissertation and viva voce examination. The publications of papers in refereed journals and presentation of research work in national/international conferences/symposia/seminars will be encouraged.
