Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS) is an inter-disciplinary programme; students integrate and apply knowledge across disciplines in order to analyze global issues and problems. It equips students with analytical and critical skills to understand contemporary international politics and prepare them for a range of professions that require knowledge of international affairs. The Programme is designed to provide graduates the expertise and skills appropriate for a range of public and private sector careers where an advanced knowledge and understanding of contemporary international societies is integral to their work.
•To provide a comprehensive and an in-depth orientation in the approaches to comprehend the character of contemporary international societies.
•To provide an understanding of the forces and institutions that shape the relations between states and the governance of societies across the globe.
•To help develop the expertise and skills appropriate for a range of public and private sector careers where advanced knowledge and understanding of contemporary international societies are integral to their work.
At the end of this programme the students will be able to:
1.Demonstrate their comprehension and an in-depth orientation to understand of the character of contemporary international relations.
2.Suggest solutions to the international issues through cooperation, conflict resolution and diplomacy.
3.Demonstrate analytical and writing skills appropriate for a range of public and private sector careers.
4.Develop cultural sensitivity and display appreciation of diversity through interactions with different culturally diverse groups within and outside the university.
5.Display leadership skills and teamwork through activities of the department.
