Prayas

Every year, The Department of Commerce organizes PRAYAS - the National Inter-Collegiate Business and Management fest. It aims at creating a platform for the brightest minds of the country to showcase their skills through a variety of events that are uniquely challenging, as well as highly entertaining. 'PRAYAS' seeks to give the young minds of today a chance to be exposed to the real-time world of business, and test their mettle to deal with practical problems, thus bridging the gap between knowledge and experience.

Prayas 2017 was organized on 30th and 31st of August 2017 and ‘THE WEST WING’ emerged as the theme.
The West Wing was designed around a political campaign where each college sent their own “Presidential Candidate” with a campaign management team. The fest was designed to challenge the contingent’s ability to work as a cohesive unit, thus making each individual action critical, in making or breaking their entire campaign.Prayas this year had 7 plus 1 events comprising of Human Relation, Marketing,  Public relation, Best manager, Portfolio Management, Integration, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Quiz.

Prayas over the years, has seen participation from the best colleges across the country. This year we had 10 colleges; 3 outstation colleges namely Vivekananda College, Chennai; St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata; Symbiosis College of Management Studies, Pune. We also saw participation from 7 in station colleges including St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Jain University, Presidency College, Kristu Jayanti College, Dept of Professional Studies, Christ University, Department Of Management Studies, Christ University and Department of Hotel Management, Christ University. We had a delegation of 130 students participating in the fest.

All the events were a true test of time and sought to assess the contestants based on their decision making skills, global mindedness, political and corporate lobbying skills, with respect to their actions. Their effectiveness to diagnose the problem and their ability to come up with the best strategy was judged.
With the Live scoring pattern, all teams were given a real time view of their standings.
