Call for Submission - FLUID 2 - GSC NEWSLETTER 2022

Greetings from the Gender Studies Committee!

Firstly, we would like to thank the student body for their overwhelming response to our maiden edition of the newsletter. In this next issue, we intend to make it bigger and better than the last one!

‘FLUID’ is a quarterly student-run e-newsletter released by The Gender Studies Committee, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be) University. We, as a committee, seek to encourage conversations, academic discussions, and general discourse on gender and its intersections through this newsletter. For this newsletter, we want contributors to look at the world from a feminist eye – beyond classroom discourse – to analyze and examine everyday gendered tasks, be it gendered classroom seating or gendered binary dress codes and put them in words. This is a one-stop safe space for you to tell us your stories, ideas, experiences, and opinions.

Dysphoria, dysmorphia, expansively envelop human beings across the lines of gender, caste, class, creed, color, and every other possible division you can think of in this diverse, diverse world. Most of the time, it isn't like we're completely and utterly lost, either. We know conditioning happens, and we also know how subtle it can be. So, this newsletter is an attempt to actively acknowledge, identify, mobilize against and express this. Because at the end of the day, everything is gendered and it is our responsibility to, if nothing else - see it.

The theme for our second edition is ‘The Economics of Feminism’. They say the world revolves around money. In this edition, we explore what it means to be a gender minority in a privatised, capitalist world that runs on power structures that are seemingly set in stone (and are inherently patriarchal).

Given below are sub-topics that can be referred to for submissions:

  • Understanding Care Economy in the Global South perspective
  • Economic Analysis of Patriarchal Power Structures
  • Exploring the Co-existence of Women’s Rights and Capitalism
  • Financial Independence of Women: Drafting Inclusive Fiscal Policy
  • Feminist Economic Perspectives on International Law
  • Economics of Commercial Sex Work
  • Inclusion of Transgender and Nonbinary Persons in the Workforce
  • The Dynamics of Women and Gender Minorities in Leadership
  • Decoding the Economics of NCM members in the Sports Industry

Note: The above sub-themes are not exhaustive. Submissions can be made on any topic aligning with the main theme.

Contributors, please note:

  • General submissions are also accepted to the newsletter pertaining to contemporary gender diaspora and its intersections outside the scope of the given theme.
  • This Newsletter is not strictly restricted to academic writing. We are open to submissions on any form of work/submission that is related to gender.
  • Kindly submit your entries by 02 May 2022 at 11:59 P.M., 2022, to genderstudiescommittee@law.christuniversity.in
  • Contributors are requested to take note of the Newsletter's Guidelines as attached to this mail.
