About the Programme

  • The Department of Media Studies at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) lays stress on an extensive practical agenda in an effort to help students align themselves with the demands and relatives of the industry.
  • The two-year MA in Media and Communication Studies  programme aims at endowing students with a rich hybrid of talents in disciplines related to mass media and new media. The department with a near-industry environment will enable students to learn and practice in a professional setting aided by a band of enterprising teachers. The course aims at imparting professional and hands-on media exposure to students thereby making them a paragon of media talents and flair.
  • Emphasis will be placed on practical components so as to facilitate students acquire technical finesse in video production, advertising, corporate communications, print and broadcast journalism, photography, web designing, public relations etc. the mission of the department is to produce a dynamic community of media practitioners with distinct competitive advantages
  • The course also intends to help students acquire an all round perspective and clarity of understanding in the discriminative and effective use and design of audio – visual, film and journalistic media for communication for several purposes like Advertising, Education, Development etc.
  • The MA in Media and Communication Studies is a two year course spread over four semesters - two each in the first and final year - with written papers, practical work, viva-voce and internal assessment of sessional work.
  • The performance of the student will be evaluated regularly through various internal assignments that are theoretical and practical.
