Photography Club-Open to entire University
The students of first year Masters in Media and Communication Studies and 5th semester Journalism students had organized a photography exhibition ‘Reviewing Bendakaluru’ on the 16th of September, 2016. The event was held on the Christ University walkway from 8 am to 6 pm. The exhibition was inaugurated by Vishu. M. Rai, an eminent photographer along with Fr. Biju and Photography teacher, Shantharaju. S.
The Chief Guest, Vishu. M. Rai started his talk by asking the students , ‘What is photography?’ He went on to explain what the exposure triangle was and how it could be used to take good photographs. He ended his talk by complementing the students for their hard work.
The students had taken photographs on the theme of culture of Bangalore. There were photographs that depicted the people, history, culture, markets and shopping streets of the metro city in different angles and perspectives that showed the true Bengaluru. One of the students said, “We are seeing a new perspective of Bangalore never seen before. This is very fascinating to see.”
Students and the faculty of Christ University had viewed the photographs in the exhibition and it was received very well. One of the students said, “These photographs are really good. But it was much more meaningful to look at because of the captions provided by the photographers” The event was so well received that many had asked to meet the photographers.
For many of the students, it was their first time in Bengaluru and the first time to use a DSLR camera. This exhibition was an opportunity to explore both. Cadayala Sridhar Behalya, one of the photographers, said, “Organizing the exhibition was a great idea. We got to thoroughly explored Bangalore to capture the culture of this great city.”
The event concluded at 5:30 pm on that day. With many great responses to the exhibition, the event was a huge success.
