•QIP on “Research Proposals and Statistical Tools Application”
A three day Quality Improvement Programme on “ Research Proposals and Statistical Tools Application ” was conducted at the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, initiated by the office of Centre for Research Project, Christ University, on 28th, 29 h Sept and 1st of Oct, 2016. The QIP aims to provide opportunities to faculty members and research scholars to understand and become aware of the research proposals and initiatives of faculties in different areas of their research arenas. The programme also provided hands-on opportunity to participants to develop knowledge in statistical tool applications in SPSS, LabVIEW & myRIO and the basics of USRP.
The QIP was attended by 19 participants from faculty members of ECE.

•QIP on Quality Improvement Program “Teaching, Learning and Evaluation”
A three day Quality Improvement Programme on “Teaching, Learning and Evaluation” was conducted by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, initiated by the Academic Staff College, Christ University, on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of May, 2017.
The QIP aims to provide hands-on exposure and training to faculty members to understand and become familiar with the methodology for planning the engineering subjects course plans, creation of CIA rubrics, use of digital tools to enhance learning and dissemination of subject information , and how to follow the tenets of Bloom’s revised taxonomy in design of the question bank.
The QIP was attended by 17 participants from faculty members of ECE department. Faculty members who made presentations (who had undergone training at Academic Staff College) for the

One day training on NI LabVIEW-DAQ,MyRIO,ELVIS BOARD was given by Mr. MANIMARAN A from national instruments. working more towards Hardware with the external sensors interfacing will bring more hands on practice and experience using myRIO with different scenarios.
- QIP 2016 - 17
A three day Quality Improvement Programme on“MATLAB 2016a– DSP Toolbox and RF Toolbox and Vivado Design Suite Tool “ was conducted at the Department of Electronics& Communication Engineering,initiated by the office of Centre for Research Project, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), on 23rd, 24th and 26th of May, 2016.
The QIP aims to provide opportunities to faculty members and research scholars to enrich theirteaching skills and researchin the fields of RF Engineering and Digital Signal Processing. The programme also intends to develop the knowledge of participants for simulation and analysis using these advanced software tools.
The QIP was attended by 16 participants from faculty members of ECE and a research scholar.The QIP program focussed on a hands-on approach to understanding these two specific tools selected from an array of tools available under the MATLAB umbrella of offerings. The upgraded MATLAB 2016a version was used in the program.
The Tool Boxes of MATLAB - Signal Processing, Image & Video Processing and Communications were introduced. The enhanced facilities in MATLAB 2016a with respect to filter design & spectral analysis, advanced wireless communications systems design, end-to-end simulations including RF and antenna models, software-defined radio (SDR) hardware, various apps for using all these were also explained. Details on how to enable project based learning with Low Cost FPGA boards was described. The extended features of MATLAB in Automatic C code Generation & Implementation on target boards such as Xilinx were mentioned.
A hands-on exposure to Software-Defined Radio using MATLAB and Simulink was carried out in the second session. It was learnt that the RTL-SDR is a popular, low cost hardware that can receive wireless signals. With Communications System Toolbox the support package for RTL-SDR Radio, MATLAB and Simulink can be used to design and make prototype systems that process real time wireless signals acquired using an RTL-SDR receiver. Reception and decoding of real-world radio signals using Communications System Toolbox and RTL-SDR hardware was learnt.
- QIP 2015 - 16
Three days QIP on PCB Design was conducted by HandsOn Technologies Coimbatore on 11/07/2015,12/07/2015 and 01/10/2015
The objective of the program is to help the faculties to design a printed circuit using Eagle software.
Eagle is a PCB design software package consisting of a schematics editor, a PCB editor and an autorouter module. The software comes with an extensive library of components, but a library editor is also available to design new parts or modify existing ones.
First day program started with the schedule
matic editor and faculties were instructed to make two circuit schematics.
Second day sessions were on PCB editor and routing, where faculties were instructed to create the routing and hand over the file so that the PCB for individuals can be made.
Third day the boards for all the faculties were brought to the lab and all were instructed to do the soldering.
- QIP 2014 - 15
Three days Quality Improvement Program for Faculties of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on MSP 430 Microcontrollers and DSP Processors was conducted by EDGATE Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in association with Texas instruments India University program, on 17/10/2014, 21/10/2014 and 22/10/2014.
The essence of the workshop was to get an outlook on the working of the MSP430 microcontroller and TMS3206000 digital signal processor and to get hands on experience of the devices by implementing a few applications on the board. The program was divided into theory and hands on session. In addition a meeting with the Director of TI University program, Sanjay Srivastava was arranged on the third day of the workshop to discuss on the current trend of embedded systems technology.
First day the program began with a detailed study of MSP430 microcontroller architecture. The full specification of the MSP430F5526 microcontroller is discussed by demonstration.
Second day the hands on session started with setting up the board for programming with the software tool Code Composer Studio. The programming is based on C, which will be compiled and written to the memory by the Code Composer Studio itself.
Third day the program started with the key note address by Sanjay Srivastava, director of TI university program. In his speech Sanjay Srivastava commented positively on the activities initiated by the departments toward the growing technological trends. The main theme of the talk was about the “Internet of Things”. After the keynote address the hands on session on the TMS320C6000 processor was carried out.
It was a great experience for the faculties to work with MSP 430 Microcontrollers and DSP Processors.
- QIP 2013 - 14
Three days Quality Improvement Program for Faculties of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on Cadence Orca PCB suite version 16.6 was conducted by FTD automation from 16/01/2014 to 18/01/2014.
OrCAD 16.6 is the latest PCB design solution from Cadence and it offers new features, enhanced customization capabilities, and significant performance improvements to help customers achieve a shorter, more predictable path to product creation. A key feature of the 16.6 release is a new signal integrity flow starting from schematic entry.
First day the program started with introduction and given a detailed idea about Circuit simulation using PSpice, and it was continued on the second day with PSpice analysis and Advanced Analysis.
Third day session was exclusively on PCB designing, which dealt with Library Creation, Netlist, Constraints, Cross section, Placement & Routing.
It was a good experience for the faculties to learn the OrCAD PCB platform which provides a complete set of tools which help to achieve the result with a complete and integrated workflow.
