- Guest talk by Dr Shrutin Ulman on Smart Hospitals 2019
Venue: Kengeri campus Block 1 Audi.
Dr. Shrutin ulman began by talking about two critical aliments namely Myocardial infarction (heart attack) and Stroke. He explains using statistics the large prevalence of the problem and inadequate trained staff to detect accurately and provide medical assistance within the critical time.
He explained that smart hospitals, using data analytics and artificial intelligence could address many issues faced by the doctors in hospitals. He mentioned that using data and analytics one can derive actionable decisions.
Some of the issues in hospitals include accurate diagnosis, training and insurance.
The needs of Smart Hospitals include operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and patient centricity.
Dr Shrutin explained the complexity of the system requirements of a Hospital computerized system. He talked about patient flow in a hospital.

- Talk on How to crack GATE/ESE/PSU’s in first attempt by Raghavendra Sarala, Manager, ACE Engineering Academy 2018
The invited talk on “ How to crack GATE/ESE/PSU’s in first attempt” was conducted on 15.6.18 from 12noon to 1pm by Mr.RaghavendraSarala, Manager-Academic relations, ACE Engineering Academy.
The orientation session gave career prospective and opportunities relating to qualifying GATE.The awareness session was useful for the student which comprised of 2nd,3rd and 4th year students of Electrical and Electronics Department.
The resource person from ACE Academy was able to explain to the students of the various competitive examinations happening and qualifications and eligibility of the same.He was specific enough to say the exams for which EEE is eligible to attend.Some of which are
• PSU’s through GATE
• Public Service Examinations
• Airports Authority Of India
• BSNL JTO
• Digital India
He also explained about higher studies opportunities through GATE. He conveyed the importance of MTech and placements related to MTech graduates,PSUjobs(Payment,opportunities),Management courses and the eligibility criteria.
The session was helpful for the students in order to understand the importance of GATE as well as to prepare with more effort and hacks on how to crack GATE exams easily.
- Mrs. Kusumika Krori Dutta - Artifiical intelligence in Electrical Engineering 2018
IEEE Power & Energy Society Christ University Student Branch chapter organized a Technical Talk on Two Artificial Intelligence in Electrical Engineering on 9th June 2018, Saturday. The workshop was handled by Mrs. Kusumika Krori Dutta who is a Assistant Professor associated with Department of Electrical Engineering, MSRIT, Bengaluru. Her areas of interest are image and signal processing, neural networks, machine learning and electric vehicle.
Artificial Intelligence is defined as intelligence exhibited by machines, but build or trained by human beings to think and act based on their applications. Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques are now being used by the practicing engineer to solve a whole range of practical problems. The Technical talk started with an interactive session with students on basics of AI. She explained why and how AI entered into engineering field, principles of ANN, Machine learning and Deep learning and a mimicking of the system. The resource person gave a gist to the students about the Real-time intelligent automation, and their associated supporting methodologies and techniques, including control theory and industrial informatics. She also mentioned a few Architectures, algorithms and techniques for distributed AI systems, including multi-agent based control • Decision-support systems. A brief on Metaheuristics and their applications in intelligent automation and global optimization including Evolutionary Algorithms, swarm intelligence, nature and biologically inspired metaheuristics were introduced. The significance of Neural networks, fuzzy systems, neuro-fuzzy systems, and the scope of Deep learning in real world applications were also discussed. Madam also explained the basics of image processing, pattern recognition supervised and unsupervised learning along with examples and its applications to power system. The programme concluded with few exercises on machine learning and deep learning.
- Mr. Ramesh Phatak - Innovation and Technology Trends
Mr.Phatak interacted with the staff memberson how industry can be involved in academics. A brief introduction of the University and its mission and vision were also presented to Mr.Phatak.
Mr.Phatak addressed the students of the Electrical and Electronics and Electronics and Communication disciplines on ‘Innovation and Technology Trends’. He stressed upon the importance of innovation in today’s scenario,its importance in building business opportunities and the importance of knowledge of multiple disciplines in innovating.He also explained about some of the recent trends in technological innovations.
Mr.Phatak was accompanied by Mr.Srinivas M.R., Manager-Power Quality Solutions and Edison Expert at Schneider Electric,India.
- Mr Aby Joseph - Research Opportunities in Power Electronics
The talk organized for the M. Tech and B. Tech students in order to expose them to the research activities in the area of power electronics.The talk by Mr. Aby Joseph started by mentioning research goals in Power Electronics domain,like the reduction in volume, losses, failure rate, and . Then he explained the various areas in which research is going on in Power Electronics.
Research options in the area of micro grid with various renewable energy sources he explained in detail and mentioned the challenges in terms of devices, control, algorithm and application. He also explained the STATCOM devices and operation in the power electronics view, which was an important area of interest for the Power System specialized students.
The talk also mentioned about the operation of various converters and their operating modes, how reactive power flow is controlled by power electronic controllers and why new controller topologies are needed etc.
- Mr Indrajith Sen - Power Hunger Games
Mr.IndarjitSen, Manager,Power Management Solutions, Schneider Electric India addressed the students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on the topic ‘Power Hunger Games’ on 13th July.
Mr.Indrajit Sen explained in detail about the global energy demand profile and the predictions of future energy demand. The speaker described rising demand, global warming, energy sources and efficient energy as the rules of the power hunger games. The parameters of the energy situation were presented with real data with the help of videos and statistics to emphasize the need and urgency for energy efficiency in various services and processes.
- Dr Sundara Rajan - Research Opportunities in Power Systems
Dr. SundaraRajan, Jt. Director, Research and Development Management, CPRI gave an invited talk on ‘The Research Opportunities in Power Systems’ on the 25th of August in the dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The talk gave an insight into the research opportunities existing across different government organizations - the hurdles as well as the opportunities were discussed by the speaker. The students had a good opportunity to understand the research arenas in current power engineering field including the opportunities in latest superconducting materials.
