Department Overview:
The Civil Engineering Department has well established facilities for carrying out the activities of basic Civil engineering. It is equipped to meet the present day technological advances and to meet the industrial requirements matching with the global standards. The department has the state of the art laboratories to meet the demand for practical knowledge by the present day industrial applications. One of the oldest, largest and diversified of all engineering disciplines is Civil engineering. Rated as one of the most "evergreen" branches, students of civil engineering can look forward to an exciting and robust study in the field of Construction Materials, Concrete Technology, Structural Engineering, Geo-technical Engineering, Disaster Management, Highway & Transpiration Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Engineering. A Holistic blend of both theory and practical ensure that students are ready to face the challenges of the society.
Mission Statement:
VISION: To be a centre for academic excellence in Civil Engineering to serve and excel in the constantly changing societal needs with ethics and integrity. DEPARTMENT MISSION To impart knowledge in Civil Engineering to achieve academic excellence. To carry out research through interaction with research organizations and industry. To inculcate ethical values in order to promote team work and leadership qualities befitting to societal requirements. To provide adaptability skills for sustainin
Introduction to Program:
? Civil Engineering discipline has impact on various sectors such as infrastructure and mining, The Department of Civil Engineering at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has been in the forefront in the areas such as sustainability, earthquake engineering, geotechnical engineering and highway & transportation Engineering. For operational purposes the department functions as a combination of four groups: Structural, Geotechnical, Environmental &Water Resources, Disaster Management and Highway Engineering. ? Research in the areas of geophysical testing, solid waste management, and ground improvement are undertaken. Our research in the broad area of water engineering encompasses flood prediction, disaster management, climate change impacts on hydrology/water resources prediction and water quality.
Program Objective:
Core Areas of Research ? Structural Engineering ?including Blast Load analysis, Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. ? Construction Materials including Sustainable Materials. ? Highway and Geotechnical Engineering. ? Environmental and Water Resources Engineering and ? Disaster Management
