Report on 10th Under Graduate National Economic Festival – ALTIUS 2019-20 held on 22ndJanuary 2020
The Inauguration:
22nd January 2020, K E Auditorium, 5th Floor, Block IV
The Altius 2019-2020 is a National Level Economic Festival which comprises of 9 events, all of which were consciously designed to benefit the students of economics. We had students from 20 colleges/universities hailing from different parts of the country as participants this year. The Economics Department has taken initiative to ensure that Altius 2020 is impressionable in more ways than one; this is evident from the theme that has been chosen for this year’s festival ‘Transforming Economic Perspectives’.
As the tradition narrates in Christ University, the inauguration began with the ‘lighting of the lamp’ ceremony accompanied by an invocation song. This exhibited the auspiciousness of the occasion also ensuring that the entire program would be carried out with a sense of belief and commitment. Soon after this, the program coordinator, Dr Joshy K J formerly addressed the gathering with a welcome speech.
Dr.Fr.Jose CC, Pro-Vice Chancellor delivered the presidential address. Fr. Jose C C made a notable remark on the efforts put by faculty members and students for the inception of Altius 2020, he also shared with us his perspectives and expectations from this broad initiative.
Next the Chief Guest, Prof Krishna Raj, Professor ISEC, Bangalore, began his key note address by welcoming the gathering and acknowledging his visit to the campus. Delighted by the conscious choice of this year’s theme, he began to throw light on the importance of having such activities which ensures practical experiences.
Dr. Rajeshwari U R, Coordinator, Altius 2019-2020 delivered the vote of thanks expressing heartfelt gratitude to all the faculty members, students and to all those who had made contributions for the advent of Altius 2019-20.
Valedictory
The valedictory ceremony took place at the end of a long, fruitful day that stood witness to the successful culmination of Altius 2020. Dr Rajeshwari U R, delivered the welcome address. Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean of Arts and Humanities stated that the systematic organisation of the fest was evident of the unity of the department and the efficiency with which it was executed was worthy of commendation. The ceremony ended by the vote of thanks by Dr.Greeshma Manoj, Coordinator, ALTIUS 2019-20 and the national anthem, effectively bringing Altius 2018 to a close.
