DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Central Campus, Bangalore organizes a Webinar on ‘COVID-19 and Indian Banking Sector’

Department of Economics, Christ (Deemed to be University), Central Campus, Bangalore Organized a webinar on “Covid 19 and Indian Banking Sector” on 25th June, 2020.  Speaker for the Webinar was Mr. Abhijit Majumdar, who is Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Bangalore Circle.  Mr. Banerjee, however, had to drop out at the last minute and was replaced by Shri Vincent M.D. General Manager, R& DB-I, State Bank of India, Bangalore Circle.  The webinar, attended by final year students of EPS, HEP and EPS and two batches of MA Applied Economics, dwells on the crisis that the economy is facing in the wake of covid 19 and its affect on the banking sector.  He observed that the low credit off from banks was a problem that started even before covid 19 but the problem got further intensified in the wake of covid 19 as economic activities came to a halt.  Mr Vincent also dwelt on positive roles that banks could play to revitalize the economy.
