The Department has an active IEEE PES Student Branch with 20 IEEE PES student members. The SB had its beginning on 13 July 2016 and ever since has organized 24 events including Technical Talks, Workshops, Networking Events, and Industrial Visits. The SB is an active participant in all IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter initiatives and programs and provides a platform for interaction with eminent personalities and industrialists in the field of power systems, Power Electronics, and Control Systems. The mentorship program of IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter has brought the students of the SB to closely interact with reputed officials from core companies like ABB, POSOCO, Mahindra, BHEL, Schneider Electric, and also with Academicians from IISc, IIT, and other reputed institutions. The  IEEE PES SB has successfully organised two flagship events of the IEEE PES Bangalore chapter namely the Student Congress 2017 and the Young Researchers' Meet 2018. These programs were initiated and conducted solely by the students and were well appreciated. As a result of the admirable work done, the IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter awarded the IEEE PES SB Christ as the Best Student Chapter Award for the year 2018.
