The Department of Economics at the Bannerghatta Road campus is functioning under the School of Social Sciences in CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Established in the year 2016 with the commencement of the new Campus at Bannerghatta Road, the Department has representation of faculty from all cultures and regions in India and with qualifications from the top institutions in the country and abroad. Together with rich experience in teaching, research and consultancy, they specialise in Monetary and Financial Economics, Environmental Economics, Behavioural Economics, Industrial Economics, Health Economics, Labour Economics, History Of Economic Thought, Informal Economy and so on, involving in advanced research.

The Department offers BA (Economics/Honours/Honours with Research) which excels in its theoretical orientation and analytical skill formation. Greetings from the Department of Economics, Bannerghatta Road Campus, CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

The Department of Economics offers BA (Economics/ Honours/ Honours with Research) along with guidance for PhD. The Honours programme is designed to match the global standards in terms of theoretical content and analytical orientation. The Department has a tremendous record of the past students joining Universities such as LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, UCL, SOAS, Sciences Po, NUS, Erasmus, Amsterdam and so on for higher studies. The students have also been placed with some of the topnotch corporates as Deloitte, D. E. Shaw, Goldman Sachs etc. The students receive thorough training in research through a guided research thesis that they complete during the programme. Numerous academic activities and events including workshops and seminars provide extensive learning experience to the students.

The research output of the faculty is quite current and change making. The Department has tie-up with national organisations for long term consultancy. Joint publications between senior students and faculty is an exceptional achievement of the Department. The Department regularly organises guest lectures and conducts workshops and for researchers and faculty in other universities.
