Psychology

The B.Sc. Psychology Honors program offered by CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is an initiative to meet the increasing demand for psychological understanding and application in diverse fields. Drawing upon the recommendations of American Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society and the University Grants Commission, this program integrates both natural sciences and social sciences disciplines, requiring students to take courses from these two broad disciplines. The course structure is designed to enable students to think critically and creatively and investigate how human beings interact with the environment through the modalities of Mind, Body and Behaviour. To this end, courses are offered from disciplines such as Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Engineering and Social Sciences.

Overview

The Department runs a range of programmes that include Undergraduate programmes, minors in Psychology for engineering students and Research degrees in psychology ( Ph.D.). Through these programmes we encourage students to consider careers and life missions that integrate psychological understanding to life.

Our programmes integrate scholarship with professional practise and we offer courses that are cutting edge in the field of psychology. Students who complete programmes in Psychology from the University demonstrate high degrees of self awareness are service oriented and are encouraged to embrace humane values in their vocation.

It gives me immense pleasure to offer this unique program, B.Sc Psychology (Honors) which is a right blend of natural sciences and social sciences. We understand the growing need for mental health advocacy and the abysmally low psychologists to population ratio across the globe. Hence, our department provides a nurturing ground through curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities for the future ambassadors of Psychological well-being. We ensure that they are sculpted for excellence and serve society with a conscience. Just come with your passion, irrespective of your past orientations and training, we shall give you the right launchpad for establishing your career in any branch of Psychology.
