The Department of Tourism Management was established in 1999, dedicated to the motto of excellence and service. The Department is committed for the overall development of an individual through academic excellence, professional competence, personal, interpersonal and societal skills. Christ University became the premier educational institute in Karnataka. With a focus on Greater Academia and stronger Industry Relations, the Discipline gives emphasis on Research and development. The Discipline of Tourism Management is part of School of Business and Management, Christ University – Bannerghatta Road Campus, Bengaluru.
The department offers BBA (Marketing and Tourism) PGDBA (Tourism and Logistics Management) and PhD in Tourism. The School of Business and Management is an IATA/UFTAA Authorized Training Centre for international travel and tourism training programmes. Driven with a strong and sound set of core values, the Discipline has always endeavored to empower students to face the challenges in the rapidly growing travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
The Discipline imparts training in marketing and tourism management and related areas. It provides opportunities to students to connect with various Bodies and Associations within the tourism and hospitality in such a way that they are equipped professionally in the vocation of marketing and tourism.
The Discipline also undertakes educational programmes and organizes courses of study, lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences to prepare the students to meet the requirements of sectors.

Overview

The BBA in Marketing and Tourism at Christ University, Bangalore, is a dynamic program designed to equip students with specialized expertise in marketing, tourism management, and business strategy. Offered as both a three-year degree and a four-year Honours/Honours with Research program, it blends core business fundamentals with industry-relevant courses, ensuring a well-rounded education. The program follows a learner-centered approach (LCA) that emphasizes experiential learning, critical thinking, and real-world application. Through industrial collaborations, internships, live projects, and student-led initiatives, learners gain practical exposure to the evolving landscapes of tourism, hospitality, and digital marketing. The curriculum includes specialized courses such as Luxury Brand Management, Experiential Tourism, and Destination Planning, preparing students to tackle industry challenges with innovative solutions.
A distinctive feature of this program is its strong industry interface and research-driven approach. The Honours with Research track encourages students to explore emerging trends and contribute to academic and industry advancements through faculty-guided projects. With a focus on sustainable tourism, smart tourism innovations, and strategic marketing, students develop critical analytical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. Hands-on learning is further enriched through field visits, tourism projects, and event planning simulations, fostering leadership, project management, and business acumen. Graduates emerge as versatile professionals, well-prepared for careers in destination management, tourism marketing, aviation, event planning, and hospitality consulting.
